Description
Hand-mulled watercolor paints in an all-natural binder made with traditional organic, raw honey and clove essential oil.
My secret formula contains >70% pure pigments (no fillers or extenders) and is updated for modern times with a plant-based, wide spectrum, food-safe preservative to prevent mold.
Each full-sized metal pan is poured or frosted in at least four times and cured in between each matching layer, to ensure you receive completely-full pan. No empty bowl-tops.
You can blend literally any color of the rainbow with this minimal, plastic-free, travel palette. Each pan is magnetized and removable. The lid can be used as a mixing tray and contains a hand-painted swatch color chart. Individual color refill pans are available.
The palette and pans are entirely made of metal, with no petroleum plastic for the environmentally-conscious artist. The pans fit in such a way that no pans are touching, so that accidental water runoff will not inadvertently mix your paints in unwanted ways. As designed, there are no pans in the lid, to prevent drips, but you can fit up to two additional magnetized pans in the lid, if you choose to live dangerously.
How to use: each pan will arrive wrapped in gold foil with a paper label, designating its color. If the paint sticks to the foil at all, you can pop them in your freezer for 10 – 20 minutes and they should harden enough to peel right off.
Prepare your paints for use by adding 2 – 3 drops of water and waiting one minute for the paints to soften. Test the paints with a clean, moistened watercolor brush. You may need to add a couple more drops of water or wait another minute before they achieve your desired consistency.
You can use the lid of the palette as a mixing tray, or remove all of the pans and also use the bottom for mixing. Be sure to clean the lid and make sure the pans are all dry before closing the palette.
You can fit up to two additional magnetized pans inside the lid, but be very careful with this arrangement to prevent colors in the lid from dripping into the pans below.
Also, do not allow excess water to pour off of the pans, because this will wash away the binder out of the paint. If you need to mix a lighter or more transparent color (as is often the case, because our paints are highly-pigmented), mix in the lid, on a palette, plate, or other surface. Only add a few drops of water to the paints to soften them enough for you to load your brush. Excess water runoff will dilute your paint and over time, they will not have enough binder left to stick the pigment powders to the paper.
With proper care, I hope you are able to enjoy this palette and paints for years of creative expression. I made it myself with the finest ingredients that I could source, after many hours of research and experimentation to achieve this perfectionist palette.
